Hi,
not usable with 10.3.1 on my z10. When will it be available?
@Yoshua,
As I’ve already said, new release will be available at the same time as 10.3.1 is released.
But…
I will probably be ready to publish next week!
Is this going to be updated for 10.3 or no? No use to me right now on my passport or Z10/Z30 devices.
@mharley,
Yes, for 10.3.1, on 10.3.0 there is no problem.
i don’t get either – this is an older playbook and i just downloaded playepub – really have no clue how to get a nav bar at the top or bottom. possibly the only thing i will be doing with it is getting books from my 2 local libraries. what do you think?
@gail,
I think I don’t understand your issue.
Per your comments, I guess you are on reading mode, this is, with a book opened and reading. There, swipping down you can see the formating options, brightness, etc.
Now, just tap on the progress bar on bottom screen, and a control bar should appear on top.
Please, take a look to help:
http://playepub.com/quick-help/reading-a-book/
the only options i get at the top of the page are screen options, i.e. brightness, day/nite, font size – how do i get the other – like books, expiration dates, etc etc
@gail,
Tap on book title on top or on % baqr on bottom to show action bar again.
With the advent of the passport, you should think about a bigger Zoom factor then currently supported.
with “50” it is just fine to read, however sometimes, a larger font size might be better.
@pbx,
I’m working on it. I hope to have it published by the end of november. It will be a completely new version.
I’m having trouble connecting to email to sync a new book. The test login gives me a “error signing” message. I can get into the email fine with a browser so it’s not a problem with the email itself.
@irene,
Are you sure you are using the right settings on host, server and SSL?
Actually every book. Scaling of font works fine just that even at 50 I find the size to small. Would just like it to be bigger. I can send screen shot if you still need it.
@mitch in toronto,
Yes please, send me some screenshots.
Have you tried disabling book styles from swipe down menu?
Love your app. Well done. Using the app with passport. One problem I find is taut even at font size 50 which is max the letters are too small. Any chance you can add option for larger font size. That aside the application seems to work great. Thanks.
@mitch in toronto,
Could you please send me some screenshots of how you see it?
Does this happen with just that book or with everyone?
It’s the BB 2.1.0.1917.
@Opey,
Yes please, try a full reinstall, you will not be charged again.
OS: 2.1.0.1917. Sorry, I can’t edit my previous comment.
It’s a BB playbook. I will delete and reinstall. I saw somewhere that we don’t get charged for the app twice, is that right?
Hi Editor,
yes, I tryed many times without success. After your comment I tryed again and, after about ten tries, I was able to swipe down and find the Option.
It seems to me that the swipe down is not easy on PlayEpub. I retried and, every 5 attempts, four of them I change the page and only one the Options come down. On other z10 application the swipe down is always successful.
Anyway I was able to modify the space between the lines so I reached my goal.
Many thanks,
Michele
@Michelle,
Swipe down gesture estarts from the top of the screen but outside of it, i.e. from the camera. I have never had any kind of issue with this, do you?
I’m using PlayEpub on BlackBerry z10 and I like it.
I would like to reduce the space between the lines of one epub file but I’m unable to find a setting option to do it.
The current space is about two time the height of the line with characters, actually too much.
Many thanks for your help,
Michele
@Michelle, hace you tried format settings swipping down when reading? There it is that option
I purchased the app a few years and it has worked well for me. However, I have just upgraded the system to the new one and everytime I open it, it crashes after 30 seconds which means I no longer have access to the program. Can you help, please?
@Opey, which OS version? Hace you tried reinstalling the app?
Thanks a lot for the website there is good information that I can use. I’ll try that and I I’ll let you know.
Salve. Cosa dovrei fare?

@Oscar Burgos,
You have to remove DRM protection from that book.
http://epubee.com/
Ok, the device is a PlayBook 64 Gb. Indeed the number of books in the library exceeds well over the 150 as you state in your reply so there seems to be the snag. I have limited the number of books and now it does not crash anymore. If I want to read another book from the large library I simply look for them and load them. Thanks for the hint to solve this issue. BR
Hi, I have bought this nice app, however, I have quite a large library of books and after loading a number of them the app will crash while trying to display the books (it never recovers from this and I had to reinstall it twice). Secondly, if you have a directory and want to add a subdirectory to the bookshelves and you return to one level higher of the directory you are in the root and you have to scroll down again to the level where you were. This is time consuming and annoying, A search function in the directories seems not to give the result you like, please add search on directory names as well as to the file names when looking for a book to add, Anyway if you use search you need to know the file name which is mostly not the case. Last but not least, the app is basically OK and very nice!
@Sjoerd de Jong,
Thanks for your feedback.
You don’t say if you talk about BB10 version or Playbook. Anyway, there is a limit on the number of opened books yuo can have in terms of device memory, that’s why you can’t open as many as you want. I have made tests working fine with even 150 books, but better performance is under 100.
Regarding coming back from collections, you are right, everything is repainted and previous state is lost. Maybe I can think on something for future releases.
Hi,
I recently downloaded the leaked version of bb10 is 10.3.1.632 and noticed that your app is not available for it. Please advise if you will be publishing an update soon or should I look for a new reader?
Thank you,
Jason
@Jason Giroux, that’s correct. BB will remove the framework used by Playepub on 10.3.1 (thanks BB), there is no possible workarround.I’m working on a completely new version but it won’t be ready until the official release at least.
Please help!! I have been trying to load a book but it might reach 3% and then continually Bump me out of the whole app. After 20min. I am getting frustrated.
@Sarah,
Please, send me that book and let me test.
Tengo un BlackBerry PlayBook. he comprado una aplicación, la PlayEpub el dia de hoy (20/09/2014), pero no llega esta aplicación. He visto que quedó dos veces cargada a mi tarjeta de credito. Que debo de hacer?
@Luis Eduardo Rubiano Villarraga,
Plz help! i buyed a reader today and happy with it, open some Epub, prc… very good. but 1 file prc cant open, it’s very slow, and hangup the reader on my BlackBerry Z10-001. I try to copy this file to internal memory, reopen it but the samething happen. I try open by Kindle, it’s working, open, read without problem. I dont know why?!
I want to attach my prc file for you! But cant, please download it by yourself: http://www.mediafire.com/download/b5t4j26pr3d8i9k/Cô+Độc+Chiến+Thần.prc
Sorry about my english. I hope you undestand me. Thanks you!
@thanhphuhtv,
The problem with this file is it is a compressed file and after extracting, it is a huge book file and the device can’t handle it properly.
This things happen sometimes, Playepub is not foolproof, I wish it was, and it will not abel to open some books 🙁
Sorry for the inconveniences.
I paid for epub then had to do a security wipe now I can’t get the application to download off BB world even though I’m quite willing to pay again and I’ve tried PayPal and credit card details
Any ideas?
Thanks
@Roger, I don’t really know what could be happening. You don’t have to pay again as long as you use the same BB ID, if it is asking you to pay again something must be wrong. I would consider asking BB support guys.
Hi, I’m sorry but I don’t know how it happens.
All i can say is that after highlighting portions of text and inserting comments, and coming out of the file and closing Playepub, when I go back into the file something has selected and highlighted huge chunks of text in yellow. The first time it happened it seemed to undo itself – it’s happening intermittently.
Unfortunately I have no idea what prompts it, if something else on my PlayBook is causing a conflict perhaps?…..If I did i might have an idea how to undo it!
Kind regards
Michelle
Hi, I have a BlackBerry PlayBook and the choose file option below takes me to my document manager, but this doesn’t list my epub files, so I’m not sure how to attach them. However, the files that I’ve had issues with are the book Draw Close to Jehovah at http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/draw-close/ and Wt Simplified edition -15 May 2014 at http://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/ws20140515/
They’re both epub files.
Kind regards,
Michelle
@Michelle coates,
Please, describe the steps I have to follow to reproduce your issue…
Hi,
Re Playepub highlighting independently:
I’ve attached an example
@Michelle coates,
Sorry, no attached file found 🙁
Could you please add some? From your previous comment, I can’t seem to understand your issue 🙁
Hi,
I use Playepub for study as well as for pleasure and have been using it for over a year. However, recently I have found on a few occasions that after I’ve highlighted portions of text, huge portions (from wherever I am within the book to the end!) have highlighted independently – thus rendering my own highlighted portions unidentifiable. I don’t know how this is happening, or how to remove it as it’s not acting like the highlighted portions that I’ve highlighted do. It seems to be a glitch – has anyone else had this, or do you have any ideas?
Kind regards,
Michelle
I’ve recently purchased the e-book reader. Great job on the app. Also, the ability to sync with Pocket further adds value.
However, UI is quite lag and I look forward to your future updates in addressing the issue.
Conclusion, this app is worth the money. Will recommend to anyone that owns BB10.
@Loong,
Thankyou for your feedback, I’ll try to do my besto to improve everything 🙂
@Editor,
Thank you for the feedback. I understand and I can imagine that on the Z30 not many would use it either, it “only” being 5″ and all, but I for sure would. Should you ever reconsider then I would appreciate it. Until then I’ll use the great product you already offer.
Hi. I had PlayEpub on the Playbook and it was awesome. Now I run it on my Z30 as well but I have one issue/request:
On the playbook I could read in landscape mode and have the reader present two columns. On the Z30 I don’t know of a way to get this done. Can it? Would you consider adding that?
I had two other issues but already found the answers on this site. Great job! For the Z30 it was free as I already paid for the Playbook version. I’d be happy to pay for it as well though and support your work.
@Jaron,
Thanks for your feedback.
Sadly there is no “two columns mode” and I would not expect it 🙁
When I started to work on BB10 version there was only Z10 on the market andits screen was not big enough for two columns, that’s the reason.
Paid and downloaded Playepub Book Reader. For the first month, when I downloaded an epub format book on my Playbook, it would then be in the “library” and I could read the book. For the last week, when I download a book in epub format, the Playbook says the download is complete, but I do not see the book in the “library”. What must I do to read these books that I have recently downloaded?
@Les,
Please, read help here
http://playepub.com/quick-help/local-library/
And confirm you understand differences between file browser and shelves.
I paid for the application but can’t install it on my BlackBerry PlayBook. There’s an error message saying error 0008; reinstall.Please clarify.
@Bishwarup,
Installation process depends on Blackberry World, I can not do anything to help you, but it seems there are some things you can read and try:
https://www.google.com/search?q=playbook+error+0008
Is it compatible with Adobe Digital Editions?
@T,
No sorry, DRM books are not supported.
@Steven,
Glad to read that 🙂
The switch has been there from the begining, 3 years in june 😛
@Editor
Well, I feel foolish, As you no doubt expected, the standby switch was set to off, I set it to on (yes) and now standby works as it should. I must have accidentally changed it at some time in the past unless that was a new switch add with a recent update? And I checked the help info (a little late) and sure enough it is shown there with a note that having it set to off will run down the battery. Just goes to show RTM
(read the manual 🙂
Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
Thanks, I understand. I have followed your recommendations and am now using Calibre with the DRM removal plugin. It works very well. So, am downloading books from the public library, loading to Calibre and then to my Playbook. Also loading my Kobo books this way. Thanks to you, I have only one reader on my Playbook. Great work! Ill keep working on the email.
Been using playepub for a while now. Good App and does what I need, but it seems like a recent update changed the way it works related to the standby time out feature on the playbook.
If you leave playbook sitting around with a book opened and active in Playepub, the playbook will not go into stand by mode when the timeout expires.
I am pretty sure it used to act different and allow the PB to enter stand-by mode OK.
I often read on my PB at night in bed and just set the playbook down on the corner of the bed when I fall asleep,
Now if I do not swipe to minimize (?) the book,
the next morning my battery is low because the screen stayed on all night. If PlayEpub is not active the playbook goes to stand-by and my battery still has a good charge in the morning.
Please excuse me if I am not using the correct terminology for the status of the application, I am not sure what it is called when the application is active vs when you swipe to put it into the background.
I have my Stand-by timeout set to 5 minutes and my Application Behavior is set to showcase.
Also recently had a update of the PB OS maybe that changed the behavior rather than an update to PlayEpub?
Thank you for your attention to this comment.
@Steven,
Please, check “Standby” switch setting when swipping down on reading. Is it on or off?

This is an account-based library and requires a library card number to login. Don’t want to post that here. But it may at least give uou an idea. As I say, downloads are successful with the The Blackberry browser and I can open with Playepub. As an aside, I have been able to connect with Pocket, but cannot program my email connection for copying. My file permissions are good.
@Richard,
Without trying the library I could not say why it is not working, but from my point, if it works from browser, it’s ok 🙂
Regarding email, are you sure you are using the right pop3 data from your provider?
I successfully downloaded from Gutenberg. When I try from the public library, I get the “running” symbol, which disappears quickly, then nothing. I have made sure that I am downloading an open epub. Thanks.
@Richard,
Please, let me test that library. Could you please provide the url?
I successfully downloaded from Gutenberg. W
Great app. I love my Playbook and this just makes it better. I use Overdrive Media console for public library access and reading and will need to continue for DRm adobe. I can access the library through my internal Blackberry browser, download non-DRM and open in Playepub. I cannot download using the internal browser in Playepub although I can login, etc. Any thoughts?
@Richard,
What happens when you try to download any book?
Hi. Problem purchasing app PlayEpub book reader on tablet. Keeps coming up with error message.
@John,
Sorry but I can’t help you with purchasing process.
You should better ask to BB guys.
Will you be supporting nook here???
@MArvin,
Playepub works under Blackberry devices only.
error openning book. your book might be DRM-protected. what is it?
@givi,
It usually means that book has copyright and can’t be opened without checking permissions. Playepub does not support this kind of books but you can remove protection.
If you send me the book I can test it to be sure it’s because of DRM and not a bug or something like that.
Fixed!
Thanks a lot!!
I intalled it in no proper way, not allowing permissions at all. How can i fix it?
@Gonzalo,
From your device settings, security, apps permission. Change them there.
Or you can uninstall and install again granting permissions.
PANIC!!!
I’ve uninstalled the app by mistake. Is there any possibility to reinstall it please? Update is no more available.
I’m really sorry. This was my first paid app installed.
I made sthg wrong during the installation. How can I reload it? The update version doesn’t work…
Help needed please!!
Thank you!
Hi!
There is unzip feature in the features list.
But PlayEpub file browser doesn’t show me .fb2.zip files.
Please, add this file type support.
Thanks!
@alexey,
You are right, zip files are not being displayed. I’ll fix this ASAP.
Anyway, take into account that this way you will be able to unzip the files before opening them, but .fb2.zip files can not be opened without extracting.
What happens when adding getpocket data in sync?
Does PlayEpub downloads all articles? I have 360 unread articles in PlayEpub and it would be very nice to have a setting download last x. Or download only headlines.
Otherwise great app. Another nice feature would also be updating current reading progress on Goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/api#user_status.create API is bad but is doable. I made a little ap in cascades but now I have to remember which % did I read on PlayEpub to write it in my app.
@MaBu,
When you sync Pocket, all your articles are synced, there is no choice to filter how many, it just downloads all of them and makes a book.
I tried to integrate Goodreads long time ago, but nobody seemed to going to use it (I asked both on Facebook and Twitter) so I finally forgot the idea 🙁
