Did you find out if it support simplified Chinese? if so please tell me the format. Thanks!
@RobA,
Thanks for your feedback.
Sorry bt it’s not in my plans so far, maybe if some more people find it useful I will think on it.
As you say, ebook readers are like paper books just flipping pages.
One question, why do you find useful having to continually scroll the page? Is it for any specific type of books?
This might be an odd request. Most (all?) ebook readers act like paper books, displaying pages that fit on a screen that you flip sideways. Would it be possible instead to render each chapter as a single page that can be scrolled down through, and using the swipe gesture to change chapters (as it does now)?
@Luce Moisan,
Thanks for your feedback.
I’ll see what I can do 🙂
Hi,
I really like PlayEpub. My only request would be to see “Page x of y” at the bottom of the screen instead of x% (the same as what I have with my Sony eReader). It could be added to the settings (choice between the actual page number or the %). This added feature would make your product perfect in my eyes.
Continue the good work!

@Zorina,@Robert,
I’ve seen the issue. Just give somedays to fix it please.
Hello i have Problem to open the links on the epub Files frome http://www.jw.org i see only a withe Page.
Where is the Problem?
@Luciano,
Sorry, I’m not experimenting your issue and you are the only one so far.
Could you please attach two of your books just to test?
One of my first purchase on blackberry apps store, It worked like charm, but after the last two updates I’m having some problems to read the books. When I make any change, like rotation, font, style, etc. I got a big blank page for about 2 minutes, same when using “Go To”.
It works fine when you change page by page but you take a long time to load the book for the first time.
I’ve tried all kind of books and the problem still the same.
Great work! but still needs margins around the text and fix these bugs.

@Zorina,
Dont’ you see the “go” button?
Please, attach that book to test.
i’m having a problem with opening link i long tap and hit go and it does nothing. help! this is the option i really was looking forward to using.
@corey,
It’s a file.permission issue. Poease, reinstal app and it should work fine.
i opened playepub. it listed off the updates. now i cant access any of my books. even if i download a free book it does not show up. tried all the buttons. whatup
quick update….shut down a couple times and restarted.. it seems to have corrected itself
just updated today and some problems. pages are blocky with text overlapping. this is happening in either book r generic mode. it takes a couple of age flips back and forth to reset each page. previous version did not do this as this is the same book i was reading.
any help would be appreciated
thanks
@bob,
It’s a permmission issue.
Just reinstall and everything should work fine.
latest update appears to not register extensions ie: .epub and does not find ANY books located in share/downloads. I cannot even read books which I had opened as they are also not found. File browser does not find anything, but 3rd party file manager can locate but not open – no registered file extension assigned to app.
Short of reloading, what else is there to do to resolve this?
Wow you work fast!! Best eReader app around and the best support. You rock!!!! 🙂
@judy,
You are right, there is not highlight function perse, you have to add notes just to highlight something. Bookmarks are only bookmarks and it’s made as one bookmark per page. I’ll think deeply in your suggestions.
I see you put in my suggestion of different color highlights which I thank you but I want to suggest how I think it can be improved further. What I suggest is that instead of having the whole spectrum of colors that instead you put maybe 5 or 6 colors as soon as the note is made. I have used an ipad and an nook and what is done is that when you highlight on the text if you press again on the highlighted text, 5 little different color circles show up right over the text so you can make the selection without leaving the page.
The other suggestion is on the bookmark. I think it sure be be an highlight option. I need to be able to highlight various passages but once I bookmark the passage the only other option I am given by the program is to delete the bookmark or add a note when all I want to do is highlight. (Maybe, I doing something wrong?)
Please, let me know if you still have any cut issue.
New version just released:
-Solved (I hope) “text cut” issue with some books. Please let me know if you still have any issue with this.
-Increased the limit of brightness, suggested by @MikeUrbane on Twitter.
-Autorotation setting is saved and restored after restarting, suggedted by @meltonlow on Twitter.
-New option to select note hightlight color, suggested by judy on web
-Restored original sepia background, suggested by kittys on web
-Solved issue when downloading duplicated files from library.
-PlayEpub is always running when downloading from email even it’s minimized.
-Improved performance when starting to an opened book.
@David Richardson,
Great!! Works fine!
I have just uploaded a new release with this fixed, I’ve tried some books and all work fine now.
Finally it was a problem related with the browser version on Playbook 1.0.8 solved on 2.0. Anyway, it should work fine with this new update. Hope AppWorld guys aprove it soon 🙂

This book had problems with text being cut off at the bottom it i use book style.
It does not happen it I go with Generic.
@judy,
Added to my todo!
I love this app-my only recommendation is to have the ability to highlight the text in different colors.
@kittys,
Let me see what I can do…
@Tomo,
Thanks for your feedback.
The issue is only present in Playbook 1.0.8, I have 2.0 and it works fine.
I think I’ve solve it but I need more books to test 🙂
The issue with text cut off at the bottom of pages has nothing to do with the books. i confirmed the same epub files work perfectly with iBooks on iPad, and even with Overdrive Media on my Blackberry torch phone. This problem is specific to PlayEpub and the Playbook. My OS is ver 1.0.8.6067 if that helps. Hope you can solve this, because otherwise its a great program. thanks.
After the new update the sepia “look” has changed. Its lost its realistic paper look. It was my main reason for using this reader app.Could it be possible to re-add this option on the next update?
Finally I could reproduce the “text cut” issue.
It’s only on OS 1.0.8, I have OS 2.0.
I’ll try to solve ASAP.
@dom,
tap on the upper title and the traditional control bar will appear. There you can go back 🙂
@dovla,
Please, attach that file and let me make some tests.
@Patricia Smith,
Now I understand your issue. It’s a bad design problem.
Look how the file is shown in other reader:

It’s not a problem with Playepub, it’s just the book.
Have you tried one column or portrait? It might work better.
i am embarrassed, but i cannot figure out ho to navigate back to home screen. i am stuck on on book,filter. help please.
With regard to #1855: I’ll give that a try. With calibre you can select a picture for the cover without having it as part of the book file. I think that’s where I went wrong. PlayEpub is a great – I don’t know why anyone would use anything else.
Regarding # 1804 & 1865, attached are the corresponding pages of footnotes for the same book read on the Kobo, which does show the numbers next to the footnotes. The book is “The Life of St. Francis of Assisi” by Paul Sabatier, and is part of the Gutenberg project.

fixed the issue by switching to generic style.
text getting cut off at the bottom in latest version. version 1.6.170 solved the issue but after purchasing the app and upgrading the problem is there. i tried resizing the fonts and other tricks but problem persists. could you please look into it? PlayEpub is my favorite ereader. i haveattached the screenshot.

Regarding #1804, I’ve attached two pages of footnotes that don’t have footnote numbers associated with them (pages 27 & 28) and three pages that each have one footnote (footnote 1 on page 6, footnote 2 on page 7, and footnote 3 on page 9). Let me know if this helps or not.

@Tomo,
Please, attach one of those books.
Have you tried changing book styles to default ones?
am l the only one? EVERY epub i open has lines cutoff at the bottom of most pages. so if i want to read these words i have to change from portrait to landscape where a different line is cutoff at the bottom. the only way to read ALL the words is to continually flip back and forth between orientations every page. very frustrating. other than that, this is my favorite epub reader for playbook. cant wait for the dictionary feature too. thanks.
@Paul Jones
When I import your epub into Calibre I can’t see your cover, this is what I see:
http://playepub.com/files/2012/01/calibre.jpg
Then, in Calibre, I edit metadata on the book and set the new cover (your file), acept changes and select “save on disk”. The new generated epub file is fine, look it in my Playepub:

This is the final file:

@Dan So,
Playepub does only support epub ebook files, not kindle mobi files. You have to convert them to epub with calibre if you want to use.
Just purchased the app and I have no idea how I can import the books into the app.
Most of my ebooks are in Kindle and I purchased this app hoping I can download them into PlayEPub.
Could you please tell me how to do it?
Thanks,
Can’t seem to get book cover art to appear. It appears in Calibre or Adobe Digital Edition ok. Have attached example and cover pic that should be on it. Seems to happen mostly with books with DRM removed. Would be great if you can let me know how to get this shown in playepub, my preferred e-reader !

@Dos,
Sorry, I can not do anything, it’ just RIM’s issue.
Please, try again later, I know sometimes it’s down.
Hi, i have downloaded the free trial and loved it. I am trying to purchase it now but keep on geeting error: 30220 when entering my AppWorld password. Can you please help?
Hello, in writing notes on the page, I was talking about being able to write on the page with a stylus pen.
@Patricia Smith,
Sorry, I don’t fully undestand your question.
Could you please attach a screenshot of what you are talking about?
