No matter which way I swipe the screen, left or right, page advances. Cannot go backward unless I bring up the progress bar at the bottom of the screen, then of course I don’t know for sure where I will be.
@Randy,
Let me look at it.
Does tap left/right for previous/next work?
@Editor for comment #40612
Thanks for the quick reply. Regarding Point 1, I am using Playbook with latest OS.
@Sudhakar,
You will find a new update fixing lang on dictionary!
Greetings
* How to make english as default lookup dictionary in playepub? The moment I highlight and look for meaning, I should get straight to english meaning rather than again asking for language to pickup.
* Does your offline english dictionary will work from playepub or it is stand alone Blackberry application?
thanks in advance
Sudhakar
@Sudhakar,
Regarding point 1, is this on BB10 or Playbook? I’ve tested on my Z10 and remembers last lang used…
Regarding point 2, you select the text, choos option “Share” and open that on the dictionary app, without leaving Playepub, as a viewer for it.
Can you fix the last update. Now opens on bookshelves as opposed to the last open book. Have a large library to search to reopen the book. Using a Z10.
@Chris,
Sure!
Didn’t know about it… I’ll take a look ASAP!
Hi, I just copied some epub files wirelessly into the “Books” folder – I don’t see them in the app; am I doing something wrong here?
@Sorin,
Can you browse your files using Playepub’s file browse?
Have you enabled “shared files” permission?
@Geoff,
Device memory puts the limits.
I would not have more than 50 books opened, but I’ve had quite good results with more than 100 books.
Is there a suggested maximum for the number of books that you should have on the Playbook at any one time?
Geoff
Rogers/yahoo is my provider and have used settings recommended from them and also alternate port if one doesn’t work
I want to add books via email as USB port broken on PlayBook. Cannot get email settings to recognize POP3 host name or maybe port? Just circles forever.
@Sandra,
Are you sure you are using right settings, not only hostname, also port and SSL? Which is your provider?
You might consider copying files over wifi, might be a better option also for music and videos…

@Renato Davì,
Just follow the links you will find at the end of the email you will receive!
Hi, I’d like to unsubscribe this list. What do I have to do?
Thanks.

Hi, I sent the file to osus. Thanks. LRB

When I read an ebook, all the pictures are replaced by a “?” inside a box. How do I get to see the pictures? If I click on one of the “?”, all the text turns to light gray.
@ Jacques McNabb,
Please, send me one of those files.
do you ever look at your website?
all images are missing
@anne,
Thanks for let me know.
Hi, I verified that the SWIPE switch was on on both devices. What I discovered was it was not working with the book I was currently reading (same book on both). Checked another ebook and SWIPE does work perfectly as expected on both PB and Z10.
Thank you for your prompt support.
LRB
@LRB,
Please, send me that book and let me test.
Hi,
Just updated to V 1.9.15 (Playbook) but it does not seem to be able to “swipe” chapter anymore.
Also is there not the “Swipe” Chapter functionality on Z10 (V 2.1.9.0)?
Thanks.
LRB
(still awesome app – still loving it!)
@LRB,
Might have you disabled swipe to chapter on your devices?
On Playbook, swipe down to show format settings menu and see last switch, is it op chapter or page?
On BB10 go to settings on action bar and check the same switch.
New feature:
If it’s at all possible, I would like to be able to save preferences (fonts, spacing, columns, etc) so I don’t have to change them every time I open a new book.
That being said, I love the app. Use it daily.
@Barry,
Well, it’s done independant because each book has a different format and will have to adjust them anyway.
I’ll add this to my TODO and I’ll take it into consideration for future releases 🙂
My wife purchased the app from her phone but under the same BBW account as mine since we share a plan together. How can I get the app on my BB phone without paying again?
@Jhoel,
Just use the same Blackberry ID to log into App world, that’s all.
I have been using playepub book reader on my blackberry playbook and love it. However, when I have finished a book, I tried to delete it off my playbook. I connect my playbook to my pc and delete the .epub file. However, it does not remove the icon for the book. I am still able to access the book through the icon. How do I totally delete the book from my playbook?
@Deb,
Just long tap on any book on shelves a remove them!
So frustrated. OK. I’m a rookie at this. All I want to do is read my kindle books on my BB. So how do I do this in plain English?
1) where on my computer would I find my Kindle books.
2) what do I need to do with the file once I find it,
3) how do I get it on my BB.
@des,
Here you have the full process explained:
http://epubee.com/kindle-drm-removal.html
Does your application support sync with Google Books? I have Google Books on Android, PC and iOS, and would like to use it on my BB Playbook – so will your application sync?
ANDREW
@Andrew,
Not, it does not. There is no Google Books sync api.
You can get your books from google and remove DRM, you will be able to open them on PLaybook then.
I have been using this program for quite some time and I really like it. However, the biggest room is the room for improvement, so to speak. The highlighting function, very useful, but it’s choice of colour on the palette I found too extensive making it difficult to choose if you have bigger fingers like mine. Instead of 12 small buttons of one color and a # of its variances why not make, ie. 10-12 most common ones with bigger buttons. That will make my life and many other users of this function, much easier. Thanks.
@Spoko,
Thanks for your feedback!
I’ll took your suggestion into consideration for future releases!
the help file is missing screenshots as is the web site. Your documentation relies on seeing the screenshots, so the help files are totally useless without them.
@peter,
Sorry, I don’t understand what you mean with “help file is missing screenshots”.
OK, it seems to have worked itself out overnight for some reason. I’m hoping it stays fixed. Question though, how do I go back to the library screen from inside a book? I can’t find a “home” icon. Also, is there a way to find your comments rather than having to hit the “newer comments” button 12 times?
@jldcat,
Tap on book title when reading to show action bar and go to shelves.
To show last comments click on “Support” item on top menu, is the fastest. For some reason worpress is not working fine when comments are sorted from newer to older.
I just purchased this app last night and it worked great. Now when I go back in today and the book I was reading is supposed to come up, all I get is the round green loading circle and no book. Am I doing something wrong and how do I fix it?
@jldcat,
Please, send me that book and let me do some tests.
just down loaded this and it says not able to drm protected and all my books were bought at kindle so now what? if i can’t read them i want a refund . This is soo annoying.
@tracey,
You have to remove DRM before being able to open them.
From FAQ’s
http://playepub.com/faq/
How can I read my Kindle books?
As Amazon does not provide any system for third party apps to get access to the books, you have to first get your book files from your kindle account. Then, as most paid books are DRM-protected, you have to remove this protection. There are many sites explaining this process, you can start here:
http://epubee.com/kindle-drm-removal.html
Remember, you are not doing anything ilegal, you have already paid for your books and you only want to read them on your Blackberry device, your books are yours. This is not piracy.
@LRB,
No, There isn’t 🙁
The best would be to make the purchase on his/her bbid account using your PayPal/Credit card, this way you pay but purchase is on the other bbid.
@Keith Russell,
I’ve tested and works fine.
Remember Instapaper works only with subscribed (paid) accounts.
Hello,
Is there a way to purchase your app for someone else’s device? As in a gift for someone else?
Thank you.
LRB
still loving your app!!
I have recently started having trouble with my Instapaper sync. It had worked for a while. I haven’t used it in a bit so when I tried it again it failed. The error, however, claimed that Read It later login failed. I only have Instapaper and cloud sync enabled. I tried removing my Instapaper settings and trying again but no luck. This is on my Z10. Are there problems with Instapaper these days?
Thanks.
I just picked up your Uncompressor app yesterday. PlayEpub combined with an app that ‘unrar’s’ was a stroke of genius. No wonder they call you Jesus.
Keep up the excellent work.
@Paul B., Great! Long ago I wanted unrar on Playepub as with unzip, but it was not possible. The third good tool… Net shares file Explorer, to copy your books from your computer or nass. 🙂
This is working great on my play book. I tried to use it on my Z-10 but when I use the file browser nothing comes up it just searches. Thanks
@Kim B. Frank,
You might have denied file access permission when installed.
You can try reinstall or review perms on device settings-> security->app perms
I have enjoyed playepub for some time now, but recently I have not been able to see any new books I upload. I suspect that during one of the upgrades I may not have allowed file permissions.
I suspect that I need to reinstall the app, but haven’t tried to reinstall, as I was wondering if I delete the existing app and then reinstall, will I have to buy the app again?
Thanks for your help.
@Alec Scott,
You don’t have to pay again.
Are you looking for your books on file browser?
Loll I’m hopeless, how did I not think of that? Thanks!
Okay so the app works great but how do I change books? I can’t find an option to get a new book on my playbook version. I got it just fine on my Q10.
@Hugh,
I guess you are on main shelves screen and only see shelves at full screen.
Swipe left/right to show also file browser.
Awesome, thank you very much.
Paul B.,
Sure!
Here it is:
http://xapps.es/uncompressor/
I’ll give reinstalling a shot this Saturday & let you know what happens. Hey, do you have a page up for your Uncompressor app? I was thinking about picking it up, but I was looking for some details on it.
@Paul B.,
Have you tried reinstalling?
Seems like is’t experiencing some kind of degradation.
I have, & love PlayEpub for my PlayBook. I noticed that it started crashing within the last month or so when I open the app. I went through & closed all of the books, except the one I’m reading, & it hasn’t helped. It happens the worst when I open the app & don’t have a book open at all, and the shelf screen comes up. It will start to load, & then crash. I have been adding quite a few new books lately. I also looked at my free memory, & have seen it go as low as 157MB with only this app open. I fear that it will go above my 1GB memory eventually, & render the app unusable. Please help.
@Arius,
I think everything is explained on
http://playepub.com/cloud-sync/
You have to copy the physical files to each device.
Then, when you open any of those books, if there is more updated metadata for it on Sync servers, you will be prompted to update.
It works each time you open the book, if you don’t open the book, nothing is done.
So i uninstalled and reinstalled and the sync now allows me to sign in and sync. do i have to copy the epub files from my playbook to my z10, then once i sync, it will sync everything? Cause when i press sync now, nothing happens. I thought perhaps it would copy the epub books over from my playbook but i guess not?
It wont let me switch it on. It grey’s out the button. i press it but nothing happens :s
@Arius,
I am absolutely lost with your issue.
I would try to reinstall the app and see if it works…
@Arius,
The login form is displayed when you activate the sync. See this screenshots.
What happens when you try to switch it on?

I have the latest release on both of my devices and I cant see a login form :s.
Hi, i recently got your app and created an account to sync my stuff in the cloud. It works fine on my z10 but i went to my playbook to try and sync to the cloud and the option to turn that feature on won’t turn on. It stays on off and won’t let me switch it. What should i do to be able to sync my devices properly?
@Arius,
That’s very strange.
Have you updated to last release? Can’t you see the login form?
I left a comment earlier today, but then read the “rst” fix for Blackberry World and it totally worked!! Thank you. Again, i love the app and use it every day! LrB
@LRB,
Great!
Hello,
I purchased ‘Playepub Book Reader’ app for myself on my Z10 on Nov 8, 2013 (Order Number: 24469732) and then for my wife two or three days later on her Playbook through Blackberry World using my credit card. I only received one receipt from Blackberry World for the purchase on the 8th, but on my most recent credit card statement two $0.99 charges were there (DRI*App World Luxembourg) both dated Nov 9, 2013. I was able to download and successfully install the app on both of our devices (separate transactions and separate installations). Since then I have not been able to update the app on her Playbook (“UPGRADE – an error has occurred please try again later” error). But I have been able to update it on my Z10 (two or three updates since I made my purchase).
I am not sure how or with whom to seek support. I am not seeking a refund, I just want to be able to upgrade the app I paid for on my wife’s device.
Thank you.
LRB
By the way, I love the app! I read every single day.
@smj,
I’ve tested on my dev q10 protype, not a final one, and it works fine.
