Actually, after I just opened to check, there now is one. Could it be that syncing takes longer than the dialogue indicated? I checked one more time, and it seems like one has to close the app and open it again to see the new book appear in the library.
But as we’re there, I’m running into the next problem. When opening the ‘Instapaper’ book I get ‘Loading book, please wait’, the progress stuck at 0%, no improvement after a couple of minutes. I tried again with a different document, same effect. Is there any way I can debug to find out what causes the problem?
@Martin,
There is not a new book on your shelves with title “Instapaper”?
It’s working fine for me!
There still seems to be an issue with instapaper. I now can enter my credentials without any problem. I add an article to my ‘read later’ list. It shows up at instapaper.com. When I now sync in PlayEpub, it tells me that sync completed. The article is moved to the archive on instapaper.com, but it still does not show up in PlayEpub. Any hint?
Sorry. Please ignore my last comment. I had read the section here on the cloud sync but I misunderstood. I thought it synced the book as well as the metadata. I didn’t get that I had to install the same book on both devices. It works very well now. Thanks and again, my apologies.
Hi again. I have the cloud sync set up on my PlayBook and my Z10. I can see my “saved book” on the Z10 under the settings but no luck on the PB. I know i’m doing something silly. Is there a guide/step-by-step to the cloud sync? Any tips or pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ahh…don’t know how I did that. Awesome. Thank you!
@Keith Russell,
You have denied “Device indentifying information” permission and it’s needed by Cloud Sync.
Go to device settings->Application permissions=>Playepub and enable that permission!
Great news in the update. Glad to have Instapaper!
I don’t know if it’s just me but on my Z10 when I go in to Settings->Cloud Sync I get a black screen and the app becomes unusable. I have to close it.
Any ideas?
New update just published!

@Graham Clark,
It’s how they are…
Click on top main menu “Support”.
@MArtin,
Not yet, still waiting from him to answer.
I’ll have to so something…
Could you please put the “Newer Comments” on the first page and the older comments on the last pages, as is more common; or is there a setting I can change and cannot find!
Regards,
Graham Clark
Has there been any news on the Instapaper issue?
Hello,
I cannot upgrade to the latest version, I keep getting a “an error has occured” message whenever I select the “upgrade” icon
Regards
@Graham Clark,
I don’t know what could be happening. You should better ask App World customer care as it might be something related to it.
After emailing my kindle books to my playbook .Azw files
Download .
when clicking on them a default app is not found.
And I cannot see them in the app
Tried setting my hotmail account up in the app but fails
How do I get my kindle Azw files from my pc to the playbook to read
@Paul,
Just copy the files to your Playbook.
If emailed, Playbo can’t open any file, just save them to Playbook and then open from Playepub.
When i open the application playepub i am noticed that the app can not read shared files probably because permission was denied during installation. How can i move files to this app or read epub files saved in other folders? Thanks.
@Renato Davi,
On your device main settings menu, go to “Security”, “Applications”, and check permissions for PlayEpub.
The program is freezing and will only display the books in file view. I have never experienced an issue with this program in the past. How do I get my books to display and open?
@Kelly,
Could you please be more specific on your issue?
Have you tried reinstalling? There might be some kind of issue.
When I start PlayEPub it begins to load my books & then shuts down. Therefore I am unable to read any of my books. I have about 130 books, is this to many? I have tried uninstalling & reinstalling but this did not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Dan Pope
@Dan Pope,
It depends on many things. I tested with 150 books working fine, but they might be much more less depending on installed apps, opened apps, and things like that.
It’s just a memory issue.
Try starting with 50 and increase by ten each time.
Also, please, remember this app si for reading, not for storing books 🙂
Bom dia
Robert
Thank you! I guess I can wait that long 🙂
I just purchased the app in order to read my instapaper documents on my bb mobile. Having read comments here, I understood that I also need an instapaper subscription for this. I thus purchased an instapaper subscription. But still I am getting the “wrong username or password” message when entering my instapaper account details in the app.
What am I doing wrong?
@Martin,
There is an issue with Instapaper API since last month. I’ve already reported it but has not been fixed yet.
If they don’t fix it soon I’ll publish an upgrade with a workarround.
I bought it off the chapters website for kobo ereaders..oh well it opens on ADE so ill just have to read it on my laptop..thanks
My book won’t load..

@Sara,
I can’t even open it on my computer.
That file must be corrupt.
The new update appears to have solved the problem. Thank you for your prompt attention. Once again, playepub is my favorite EPUB reader!
I Just got tour App and I cant maleta it World it Just doesnt open. Im no even referí to the fact test I ha venta be en ale to reas a single sentencia but algo the fact I cant open the App. I am real y dissapointed
@nadia,
Sorry but I don’t understand your message.
Any progress on dealing with the links? I use this app daily and the inability to link correctly with the new update is significantly hampering my studies. I would happily go to the previous version if I could.
Thanks
@Shannon McGee,
Try the updated version you will see today…
Hello, how can I access files saved in my phone, which is connected directly to playbook using BB bridge. Due to capacity constraints,I have many of my pdf files saves in. The phone media card.
If this is not supported at present, will it be supported do in future?
Are there any alternate method to store /access my files as and when required, without saving them in PlayBook?
Thwnks
@Shifi,
Sorry but you can’t, there is no Bridge access from Playepub and it is not planned on the future.
getting DRM protected msg when trying to add a book file purchased. attached file.
[file]http://playepub.com/files/2013/09/The-New-York-Times-Guide-to-Essential-Knowledge.epub[/file]
@greg,
Yest, that book is protected.
You have to remove DRM before opening it.
My earlier problem with Playepub is resolved.
I downloaded les miserable epub from gutenberg. When opening it got error message.
Thanks
Louis Woolfson
@Louis woolfson,
Please, attach that file and let me test.
I have epub on my blackberry playbook.
Until today it worked satisfactorily. It appears to have been updated today.
Now, instead of getting a list of files I have a set of icons on the screen, some with one of two coloured arrows.Some have writing to identify them.
In addition I downloaded an epub file which I can see in my file reader, but epub does not see it.
I would appreciate it if you would advise me how to return to a list of files and how to access other epub files not yet recognized by epub.
A full set of operating instructions would be most helpful.
thanks
Louis Woolfson
I downloaded some files and tried to open them but came up as drm protected. I used to download these files all the time.
@Sonia,
Could you please attach one of them to test it?
Hello,
I uploaded a .mobi file last month which was failing to open on my Q10. I hoped it would be fixed in the latest update, but the spinning circle when I try to open the file never goes away. I wasn’t sure if the issue was supposed to be fixed in the latest update, but I thought I would ask.
cannot download this app onto my playbook it says to contact osus. Can you help?
@ Lionel Lizee,
Why? What happens when you try to download?
Thanks for the update. The size of my books is maybe a bit high. 192mb with quite a few 10mb Pdf files. Turns out these are on the sd card which may be slow. I guess it’s just a speed thing. I didn’t see any of the books installed.
By the way I am also seeing the “black screen” when trying setting the iCloud sync up on my Z10. Thanks again!
@Keith Russell,
Let me do some tests with bulk import and let’s see…
Hello, regarding the BB10 Playepub App. I’m trying to set the cloud sync with my Playbook. I set it up fine on my Playbook, but I cannot on my BB Z10.
1- I open up settings
2- I chose “cloud sync”
3- It just goes to a blank screen and doesn’t allow me to do anything more…
please help.
@Rob Camirand,
Can’t reproduce your issue, it’s working fine on my Z10 and Q10. I have even installed from scratch and loads fine.
Have you updated to last release published this week?
With the latest update for pb 1.9.6 the links in my jw.org pubs are not working correctly. They connect to the beginning of the chapter instead of to the specific Page or scripture. The reader has lost most of its functionality because of this. Please fix this ASAP, as this was by far my favorite EPUB reader.
Thanks
@Shannon McGee,
Let me do some tests.
Ok. I get the volume keys. My bulk import was of a folder with about 30 Epub files and 4 Pdf files. I waited at least a half hour but nothing. As for the instapaper, I am subscribed. Another app I have to fetch from Instapaper works fine with the same credentials so I’m not sure what’s up.
Thanks again.
@Keith Russell,
I’ve one issue with the api and have just asked them to try to fix it 🙂
Regarding bulk. Is any book loaded? Any progress feedback shown? Does not really do anything?
Since the last update when i try to open playepub it opens halfway and then closes again.
@Dona,
Please, try reinstalling Playepub, there might have been some kind of problem during the update process.
Hello,
Thanks for making a very nice reader. I am thoroughly enjoying it. I have had two problems and one idea for an improvement.
First I have actually started using this app sin e I got my Z10 but will definitely load it on my PlayBook ASAP. For my Z10 it would be fantastic to be able to change pages via the volume keys.
My couple of problems are:
1. Unable to set up my instapaper account. It always tells me the information is wrong.
2. Bulk import of a folder containing a handful of Epub and Pdf files seemed to lock the app. No progress, nothing worked. I had to kill the app.
Thanks again for a great app.
@Keith Russell,
I did test with volume keys, in fac everything is programmed and working, but it has one big issue, can’t block volume change, you can turn pages with volume keys but it will also change the volume and show the volume bar, which is annoying.
1) To log into your instapaper account you have to be a subscriber, only paid accounts can be used from third party apps. Pocket is free 😉
2) How many books? Is any of them imported?
Just wanted to thank you for making this great app and updating it frequently to make it even better.
When so few people are supporting the PB it’s nice to know that this reader is kept up to date. I use it frequently and if it was the only app for the PB it would make the $125 I paid for the tablet worth it!
Thanks again for living up to your commitment to the PB much better than BlackBerry did!
@Tony,
No man, Thank YOU 🙂
New update just approved:
BB10 v2.1.0.30 :
-High performance improvement when reading and changing pages, most noticeable on books with hundreds of pages.
-Improved performance loading Kindle books
-Changed settings menu to a more standard one.
-Moved Cloud settings to main settings menu
-Added Cloud Book manage, to see which books you have on the cloud and delete any of them
-Fixed issue going to some links (jw.org and more)
-Fixed issues loading Kindle books compressed with Huff/CDIC (just a few of them)
Playbook v1.9.6:
-Improved general performance when reading and changing pages, most noticeable on books with hundreds of pages
-Improved performance loading chapters
-Improved performance loading Kindle books
-Fixed issue going to some links (jw.org and more)
-Fixed issues loading Kindle books compressed with Huff/CDIC
@Jacquelyn,
The only issue I have been reported about jw.org books is related to links, and it’s solved in the update you will find today 🙂
Are there any other issues?
Let me start by saying that I love this app. I read a post a while ago about the downloads of the Watchtower and Awake magazines from JW.ORG and how the format has been changed in some way. I never saw what the response was and the downloads still seem to not be as comparable with this app as they use to be. Can you help?
@William Mitchell,
1) Not at this moment, but will take a look into it.
2) If you delete the book from shelves, the original file is still there, you remove it from shelves only. You will have to remove from Playepub’s file browser or an external one.
1} can we get or have larger book icons
2} if i delete a book from PlayEpub do I need to also delete it from my PlayBook “Books” file via a file manager
wem
Hi Paul,
After testing your file, there is some kind of issue with the encoding of one of the files inside it.
I have fixed in this new one so as you can read it.
I will try to fix the issue.
[file]http://playepub.com/files/2013/08/Sky-Hunter-1.epub[/file]
I have a book in epub form that will just not load. I have tried changing the UUID number to avoid any clashes but this hasn’t worked. Also tried deleting and redownloading from source in case I got a corrupted file but nothing seems to be getting it to work. It loads in Calibre and Adobe Digital Editions fine. Can you take a look and see if you can fix it so it will open in playepub.
Thanks,
Paul

Thankyou for ur response…reinstalled…its working great again
i love this app have had it for quite a while….BUT i recently upgraded to version 1.92 i think…and its not running properly on my playbook… it keep closing ( i assume that means its crashing) and when it stays open….it wont open any books….is there something i can do to fix this? or maybe revert to an older model?
@Kristi-Ann Sharp,
Please, try reinstalling Playepub, it sounds like some kind of degradation during update.
Hi,
I bought playepub for my Z10, but it is running incredibly slowly (reading .mobi files less than 1Mb), and turning the page causes the black background to flash white every time.
I can see plenty of good comments on BlackBerry World, so the problem may be just on my phone? I’m using OS v10.2 leak, could that be the problem?
William
@William,
Please, send me that file and let me test.
