Hi,
I wanted to purchase your playepub app but there is no “purchase” button on my playbook… Note that I get “purchase” button for other apps that are for sale.
Please let me know if it is still available.
thanks
@JP deziel,
That’s an issue with Playbook’s app world client.
Please, follow these steps.

Re:#21209
Please disregard my referenced message. I have found the downloaded ebooks.
Re: #21188
Yesterday, I was able to download several books in epub format after many failed attempts. Today, the download function doesn’t work at all. The software showed download was in progress but nothing was downloaded. Waited a long long time. Checked all folders and found nothing.
Can you help? What is your refund policy?
Installed the software successfully. However, the software can only download books (epub format )intermittently. Most of the time, the software’s “in progress ” download dialog box,in the lower left corner, shows “0”progress.
Had a couple of successes in downloading ebooks but encountered failures 80% of the time. Can you help?
My device is the PlayBook with the latest OS.
@Lee,
This is a known problem with the os, it’s not dispatching progress events, but files are downloaded.
Look at your Playbook downloads folder, if you wait some time to let the download finish, you’ll find the file in your Playbook. You might have some of those downloaded books.
@Ladislo,
Please, give me some time to debug why they are not working fine.
Jesus, it seems that this issue was because of file name in russian.
I have been renamed file to completely in english and everything is fine now – I can read.
But, I am sorry… there is my second issue – does Playepub support references in text, especially for .fb2 books? See an screenshoot – I can not select “1” to go to the very first reference and read it.
Thank you.

@Ladislo,
I’ve tried changing to Russian and also works fine.
Try removing and installing app again, it has to work. You don’t have to pay again.
Thank you for a reply. It’s a weird issue…
There is no any special configuration for Playepub on my z10.
Actually I changed only font type, font size and theme.
Could you provide me your Playepub’s settings?
Are you using defaults?
Can it be because of z10 system language seettings? – mine is russian.
Is there a way to reset app settings to defaults? – didn’t find this in menu. Can I just delete and reinstall an application (I suppose that I will not be charged second time, right?).
@Ladislo,
I’ve tested your book and works fine for me.
Look at these screenshots.
Is there any special configuration you are using?

Hi,
I have been purchased and installed a Playepub reader on my z10.
Most books I used to read are .fb2 in Russian (Cyrillic, windows-1251 or UTF8).
But it looks that the Reader not fully support this.
I can open the .fb2 file, read table of contents and it is all.
When I am trying to open a book for reading there is just an empty screen.
I am going to attach a mentioned .fb2 file and some screenshoots to show an issue. You can see table of contents screen, main settings screen (verdana font and sepia theme) and an ampty screen for the book.
I have been tried to select different fonts/themes but it didn’t help.
Could you, please, check this file and give me a solution how to fix the problem?
Thank you in advance.

For some odd reason this file’s hypelinks won’t work. All of the predecessors of it’s type and source have worked. Plus, it works on my husband’s app, which is a different developer, so I know it’s not the file. I’ll attach it. Hope you can help, otherwise, have always liked your app., it’s been a great help to me.
Thanks, Jesus, for your diligent efforts in making an app like this available.

@j Morgan,
Let me do some testing, I’ll let you know.
Dear PlayEpub,
I’ve just gotten a BB Q10, and seeking a e-book reader. It’s very excited when finding your app. After see overview, read comments, I jst feel that your app is so good but I also feel uneasy a bit, about these things:
I want to read books in *.prc, epub, *.mobi format on my BB Q10 so This app satisfies me, doesn’t it?
Do you plan to release a update version for this app in next time?
When I install it on my BB Q10, are there any issue?
Please help me,
thanks you very much
Regards,
Don Vo
@Don,
This app satisfied your needs.
Updates are released frecuently, last one some days ago.
No issues installing there should be.
Hi I have your app on the Playbook and have now purchased a BlackBerry Q10 thanks for making it a free download, but it’s such a great app I would’ve gladly paid again.
My question is what do I enter in the email parameters screen ( pop3 host and port number) in the app on the phone to have the books from the Playbook show up on the phone.
@reese,
Mail params are not to sync books between devices, are for downloading books from email.
You have to copy your books from your Playbook to your new q10.
I have downloaded mobipocket books to my z10. Is there a DRM removal app that will work directly with the z10 rather have through windows?
@mobireader,
no you can’t those tools depend on adobe digital rights application to work.
Uninstalled and then re-installed and working fine. Many thanks for your prompt response.
Mike
Latest version on PlayBook crashes after opening up.
@Mike Pearson,
Somthing ther must have been going wrong while updating your app.
Perhaps you had it opened while updated…
The best will be to remove and install it again. I hope I had a better answer, but this would be the only way to fix your issue.
Hi,
I purchased your application form my Z10. Should i pay again forum my PlayBook?
Thanks,
@Utku,
No, you don’t have to as long as you use the same BlackBerry ID.
Good news. The large file was corrupted. Ideally was 250mb. I deleted it from the tablet then up loaded it again and it works. The other file I was having trouble with I loaded the .mobi and it loaded fine.
@Bob,
Great! No problem then 🙂
@Bob,
There is no explicit limit in size, but might be some implicit ones due to memory device. App might be runing out of memory… it’s just an idea. I’d need the file to test.
Could you please upload it to any service like Box or Dropbox and share with me?
I tried to send you the file, but it is too big for my email client. Is there a limit size wise for the app to open it? The book is 149mb. Please let me know if you need any additional information from me.
Can you make the book, as they sit on the shelves, about 10% bigger….I’m old & have trouble seeing them!!
@William Mitchell,
On Playbook or Blackberry 10 devices?
Do I need to remove the books from my book file that I have deleted in the reader??
@William Mitchell,
I think I have not understand your question.
You delete some books from your shelves, and then what?
I have downloaded some .epub books and it doesn’t seem to read them. I am not sure what might be wrong. I am sending the one I got today that won’t load up. I actually got 4 and it sees 2 of the 4. one it looks like it is loading and says 94% loaded and just spins. The only thing I can do is to close the app and re-launch. I also have these in .mobi format too. I tried to attack the .epub file, but not sure it is there.
@Bob,
Please, send one of them to me, it hasn’t been attached. osus[at]osusnet.com
I have a problem with the application! Within 30/60 seconds of running the app it shutdown, I have deleted the application and run it again but it still doesn’t work! Can you help please?
Thanks James
@James Orr,
Playbook or Blackberry10 version?
I will need more info to find out the issue.
Does it shutsdown on shelves? do you have many books opened?
I have many mobipocket books transfered to my z10. Tried to open unsuccessful possible DRM issue? Suggestions, and is there a DRM removal that will run on the z10 (saw one for windows and mac)
@mobireader,
I can confirm it is a drm issue if you upload one of your files. Most amazon books are protected.
Here on home page you got two recommended tools for removing drm.
bom dia
gostaria de elogiar este excelente aplicativo que superou minhas necessidades, mas só queria saber porque é tão demorado para abrir arquivos em pdf e tambem nãp consigo edita-los
@Robert,
Books don’t get downloaded using the online libraries feature. Download starts, but is at 0% and never moves from that.
@Neken,
Don’t worry about the progress, it’s downloading. Files have probably been downloaded, see in your downloads folder.
It’s a known issue from the platform.
Just wait some time to let it finish and see on file browser.
No download button @ blackberry world.
@Charles,
Please follow this procedure:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World-Development/Support-channel-for-downloaded-applications/ta-p/445711
further to my last post re not finding the programme after downloading, I turned the playbook off and when i turned it back on the programme appeared on my desktop. Working fine.
i have downloaded playepub direct onto my playbook, it shows in my world as purchased, but it is not on my desktop i have checked permissions but it doesn’t show there either.
it installed automatically and i didn’t get the option to allow “file access” when installing.
@stephen o’brien,
You could try uninstalling and installing again, something might have gone wrong when installing.
I sent an email to them. I will post any updates or reply that I receive here.
Like other users in this thread I cannot purchase your app through app world on my playbook. I have check your comments and found the section where you referred us to :
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World-Development/Support-channel-for-downloaded-applications/ta-p/445711
However if you look at the note it says:
Note: The above email address is for third-party developer support only. If BlackBerry smartphone users contact this email address, they will be redirected to the third-party developer for support.
So we are being referred back to you. Can you please provide an update?
@Shiv,
This issue is an special case, please, follow those steps and contact to that email address as described.
@Stan Bebenek,
Calibre response was to Jakob, not to you.
Yours was the one before.
This issue is with books that worked fine before or are new ones? Are they big files?
@Glenda,
Please, follow the link “Manage your subscriptions” in the email you have just received.
I would like to stop getting email updates please. Thank you
I’m not sure I understand the reference to using Calibre. The books were loaded using Calibre and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app.
By way of further information, when I first load a book it comes up instantly. Thereafter, a blank page comes up and I see a rotating circle. If I wait 5 minutes the book finally loads ( so the app does not freeze as I previously reported). Once loaded all is well.
This behavior started with the last update this week.
Hi there. The app works great, but I have one question. I have added an epub to my library but it does not have a cover art/book cover picture. I want to know if/how I can add a picture there (for example I find a .jpg file online of the book cover I want, if I can add it or not).
-Jakob
@Jakob,
You can do it from your PC using Calibre.
I’m having problems with the latest update 1.8.51 on the blackberry tablet. It will open the book on first loading but thereafter the application hangs at the page number. I tried different epubs. I do not have this problem on Aldiko. I never had any problems before the update.
@Stan Bebenek,
It’s hard to know. I would suggest reinstalling. It sounds like some kind of degradation. Please, remember to close app before update always.
This doesn’t solve the issue, I would expect that you as the supplier sort out this problem instead of making it my responsibility. I am in deed the paying client am I not.
@Wilfred,
It’s a Blackberry issue, not mine, and that’s the official procedure to solve, I can not do anything!
Blackberry support told me to sent this to all customers with this issue.
Have you sent the email as indicated in the article?
Hi, I would realy like to buy your app but theres no purchase/download link on appworld??? Im using s Playbook.
@Wilfred,
This is an issue with BlackBerry world app. Please, follow the steps here:

Hello,
I recently purchased Playepub and I have a few questions.
1)How can I find what page number I am on when reading an ebook?
2) how can I jump to a specific page?
I have moved an ebook that I’m currently reading on my kobo to my Blackberry Z10 and I want to jump to the page I was on. It seems like it should be a very simple and basic feature but I’m having trouble finding it.
3) After creating a collection of books is there a way to set a thumb nail instead of using the folder icon? Either a custom file or by using the image of the first book in the collection?
I’ve tried searching for these answers. Sorry if they are already posted here somewhere. I could not find them.
@Eric,
Sorry to tell you can’t see/jump to page number, they didn’t exist. You can see “chapter” page numbers, that will be “book pages” on some book types such as FB2 and some kindle, but most epub files contains many physical files and global pages can’t be found.
Anyway, altough you had it, you could never jump to the same point as you are on Kobo because pages depends on font, size, margins, line separation…
Sorry again but you can’t change collection image either, it’s by default the blue folder one :(. This has also been asked before and might be in future releases.
When I try to open the book that I am reading it is not responding. Then I return to the home page and try to open another book and then the whole program will shut down. Please let me know how to fix this issue.
@Yashyka,
I would consider reinstalling app as it sounds like if there were some kind of degradation with your installation.
Do you have many books opened?
Just updated to newest version. Sorry, but I really miss the old color of bookcase (had a warm feel to it). Was reading an previous response and I see that you say it is not possible to go back to a previous version (which I really, really want)- new black / dark colored book case is very depressing. Please consider making another upgrade that allows for the lighter colored bookcase. I really miss the old look! thanks
Jim
@Jim,
Thanks for your feedback.
I’m studying the situation, I’ll see what to do.
Anyway, it might look depresing, but it’s BB10 style!
Hey guys!
Just to let you know you will find a new update today.
@Adrian,
This update fixes your issue!
I purchased this from Rogers in Canada. Downloaded fine, set all permissions to yes. When I open it, the title screen comes up, then disappears and that is it. Same if I click on a book file in File Manager. Tried restarting but no difference.
Pretty annoying to pay for it if it doesn’t even open! Any suggestions?
@Jeff,
That’s very strange…
What device are youusing? Playbook, Z10, Q10?
Have you tried reinstalling? Remove app and install again please, and let’s see what happens.
Hello,
I can’t download playepub on my playbook since bbworld… Il dont see any button for download. Help!
Thank tout in advance
Zanolecal
@Ezcurra,
Please, follow this steps, it’s a known issue on BB World client.
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-World-Development/Support-channel-for-downloaded-applications/ta-p/445711
My PlayEpub is unable to open a number of DRM-free books from O’Reilly that opens without difficulty in Calibre. The message was “Error opening book. Your book might be DRM Protected. ……” Example attached.
[file]http://playepub.com/files/2013/05/802dot11ac_A_Survival_Guide.epub[/file]
@Adrian,
I’ve tested and found the bug. This is the first time in 2 years that I see something like this!
I have just uploaded the fix, hope to be approved ASAP.
Hello,
I’ve found the problem. Did an uninstall and re-install and everything solved. I’ve done the update probably when it was running in the background.
Thanks for your support! Have a nive weekend.
On Playbook: the last two button (at top-right) are doing the same thing
ePub: very few epub shown now (previously a lot more). I’m unable to select local folders too.
@Michel,
Please, attach one screenshot of what you see.
LAst two buttons do the same if you don’t have any sync configured. When select sync button, it sends you to settings to add some kind of sync. That’s right!
