When I highlight a sentence or two, if I could change the text color or background, so that it stands out, the next next time I am looking for the reference it will easily stand out on the page. Like if I had a highliter and a paper book.
@denny
Thankyou for your feedback.
I’ll try to reproduce your issue. An screenshot would be very helpfull!
i read a book last night and when i went to bed i put it aside without closing it. the following morning when i unlocked my playbook, all i get is a grey page but still with the upper and lower bar showing. the place where i supposed to see the texts within the page turned grey. i’ll have a screenshot next time it happened again.
@Martina,
Sorry, I can not reproduce your issue with notes.
I selected text, added a note and modified it.
After closing (saving or discarding) everything is in the same state as before.
Can you give me more details or a screenshot?
Hi Daniel,
I’ve added your suggestions to my TODO list. I will see what I can do.
great on the suggestion! thank you very much!
i did just find a big bug with the notes. if i add text to a highlighted sentence that automatically copies into a note the screen goes grey as soon as i remove the keyboard. please help!
thank you!
martina
I suggest the following features:
1. Numbered pages
2. The backlight should remain on while reading.
3. The pages should flip over and make sounds like flipping thtough a book.
4. The ability to leave voice notes.
5. Integration with BBM.
@Martina,
Thanks fot your feedback. I can not reproduce your issue. Might it happen just with certain books? Please, send me one of them to make some tests.
Regarding your suggestion, yes, it’s possible. I add it to my TODO list 🙂
Hi,
I love this app — it’s hands down the best of the bunch that have been put out for the Playbook. I’ve had one problem in that, with some ebooks, it seems to get stuck on a specific page and forget where I’m supposed to be. Even if I try to go to a bookmark or a note or a page number that comes after that point, it doesn’t seem to take until I turn the page manually, and then sometimes I discover that I am actually at the place where I was supposed to be, but it didn’t look like it — as if the screen didn’t refresh properly.
Apart from that, however–and maybe this current release will have fixed the problem–I have a request.
Is there any way that you could make it possible to copy the whole Notes list to the clipboard? That would be WONDERFUL.
Thank you so much!
Martina
@Frank,
Could you be more specific on how you think this feature should work?
@Juan,
Sorry, I don’t know what could be happening.
Could it be that you have deleted the last book you read? Maybe it’s the problem. I’ll check it and try to fix.
Meanwhile, you can delete PlayEpub and reinstall again, you don’t have to pay twice, App World will let you install again.
@lasekeye,
It’s not as development issue, it’s a license issue.
I’ve applied for a license with Adobe, but haven’t received any response, I do not expect to have one license, only big “players” have (Sony, Acer, …).
Sorry for the delay on the last comments, I’ve been on holidays.
hi jesus
i wrote a comment yesterday but it seems it has just vanished .
your app is great and has been functioning well , until yesterday.
when i open the app a grey screen appears and it mentions that it is loading my last book – and it goes on and on without loading anything.
i have stopped the app several times , i have restarted my pb but to no avail. it always mentions it is loading the last book . is there something i can do without having to buy it for the second time ? thanks for leting me know .
hello jesus
your app has been working great for the last few days .
but now it isn’ t – each time i open it it says it is loading the last book. it loads and loads and it keeps at 0 % . i have restarted my PB , have turned it off, but each time i open it, it goes loading and loading the last book and the screen is all grey.
is there something i can do ?
Are there any plans to be able to read DRM Protected epub books? I was hoping that my new playbook would be an ereader, that I can use with my Public Library. I don’t feel comfortable enough to play with DRM Removal on my own.
Great reader, one feature that would benice for me is the ability to highlight text. The note feature is great, but would like the ability to highlight text for study purposes. Keep up the good work.
@Editor
Thanks, looking forward to the new update.
@Pablo,
Good point! let me see where to add it 🙂
Jesus, FOA thanks for this app, it’s wonderful. I noticed that in AppWorld, playepub.com URL is listed on the notes section but not in the support pop up like in other apps. Maybe worthy to add a clickable link pointing to this page? Thanks.
@GhostWolf,
Next week I will publish a new release with improved file browser with folders structure. Hope you like it.
@Françoys Crépeau,
These are my gmail settings:
http://playepub.com/files/2011/06/gmail.gif
and work fine.
Be sure to check “Use TLS/SSL” and use your full email address as username.
@GhostWolf,
That is the only way of browsing books by now, it will probably be improved next week weeks, but now it shows just a single list.
I really like the latest PlayEpub, but I’m having a problem connecting it to my Gmail. I’ve entered “pop.gmail.com” as a POP3 server, and I’ve entered port #995 (as well as having tried port #110) and my userid and passwords, with no success. Is there another port # I should be trying?
I have several books in different folders, but playepub just finds the books without the folder structure. Is there anyway of seeing the folder structure instead of listing all the books?
@Dave,
I’ve tested and works fine!
Look at help page:
http://playepub.com/quick-help/network-libraries/
@Dave,
Have you tried adding your “public” library on the “External libraries” option?
You have only to add the url to your library and start to browse. It should work. Does it?
Can you add a feature to allow browsing of personal calibre library’s? I have an extensive calibre library on the internet which is password protected but would love the ability to browse this book source directly from playepub. contact me directly for user/password and url for this library if you need to use it for testing purposes…
@Barry,
I assume you have downloaded some book. Are them epub files with epub extension?
Did you accept “files” permission when you installed?
i downloaded the trial version butit does not find or display files in my downloads folder
@Paul Jones,
It’s easy.
Rename epub file to .zip.
Extract .opf file you will find inside the zipped file and open with notepad or similar.
You will find something like this at the begining:
<identifier id=”bookid”>urn:uuid:f47bf4ba-dcd5-6a03-4019-f4a708676918</dc:identifier>
Just change the number, save the file, compress again and rename to epub. That’s all 🙂
Many thanks. I can open both books now. I have the same problem with the other 6 books in my library. Would you be able to correct these as well or provide instructions on how to resolve myself
@Tom,
Sorry, I can’t fully understand your issue. Could yoy please give me more details?
Hi @Paul,
I see the problem. Both books say they are the same, both have the same identifier, which is a design fault:
We use this identifier for storing cache info. When you open the second one, app thinks you are opening the first one, but it’s not.
Delete these opened books (long tap on them on preview) and try to open this one I attach and your original “Fear the alien”. I have just changed the ID. Both books must work now.
[file]http://playepub.com/files/2011/09/Legends-of-the-Space-Marines2.epub[/file]
Ataching two files for testing. Only one will load for me, the other comes up blank (it does apear under the list of downloads)
I just had to wait – it eventually was found. Some now show up immediately, one other is still not showing. Have latest OS. Initially, it did not show in the list of the available books.
@Tom,
I have loaded your book and it works fine. Look at these screenshots.

Please, be sure to have the latest Playbook OS version, 1.0.7, I’ve seen in my reports many people with old releases.
If everything is ok, please, give me more details about what happens when you open the book. What’s the problem?
@Paul Jones,
Please, attach that second file you have problems with and I’ll made som tests.
Cannot open a non drm epub I have attached the book. i have only downloaded the trial, and intend to purchase.
Hi,
I am able to open one of my book but when I try to open another one, the book opens but pages are blank and cover does not appear. By going back to the home screen, I see the last book that I have tried to open as a question mark icon, with title and author but no picture. There are no other previews available. Thomas had a similar problem June 27th
I have version 1.6.1 of your app. I have deleted and reinstalled app and books as well as shutting down and restarting the playbook itself. Nothing helps. When I look at permissions in the playbook it shows as File permission allowed, however it shows the version of PlayEpib as 1.0.91.0 which isn’t the same as what App World shows, which is 1.6.1. Would appreciate suggestion on how to resolve so I can see and read all my books (all are non-DRM) and display cover art with your great app. Thxs, Paul
@Jean-Marie
Sorry, there isn’t by now.
I’ll publish a new release with this featur during the next weeks.
I like to read my ebook my Sepia Background.
But, I have to set the background each time.
Is there a tip to keep the chosen Background ?
@risa,
Please, try to uninstall and install again Playepub, you don’t have to pay again.
I have just bought this and I cannot get it to open on my Playbook. It looks like it is and just disappears. Help.
@Pablo,
Thanks!
In last version you have mark for current chapter 🙂
Maybe I will add marks for all the chapters.
Hi. FOA, excellent job, I love this app.
Is it possible to add chapter marks to the bottom screen progress bar? That’s something I miss much from my Kindle3…
Thanks!
@Lane,
I can not see your attatchment, but it’s probably because your book is drm protected. PlayEpub does only support drm-free books.
I just downloaded your software and am trying to view the attached on my Playbook…it’s essentially showing up as gibberish? I can view it in my Sony eReader and with adobe digital editions so I’m not clear on what is the problem here.
Thanks
I love this ereader on my Playbook. I would like to see you add some additional fonts, especially sans serif fonts, which seem to work better for my eyesight. Also, is there any way you can offer the ability to BOLD the fonts? Finally, the ability to choose font colors and background colors would be very useful too.
Very nice job so far. Keep up the good work. (Who needs Kindle anyway???)
@Bill,
Hi man!
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Have you try to delete the opened book (long tap on it) and open again? Maybe something went wrong.
If that does not solve the problem, please, attach de book to another comment and I’ll try to solve.
