@Tom Daniels,
What do you mean man?
I haven’t updated anything, I can not 🙁
I noticed u updated file, however I only have option to delete. So, should I delete and then re-install or what?
@Charlotte,
It’s related to RIM has removed try&buy support.
Try to contact to App World Customer Care and retry many times, I know it will work at some time, but you don’t know when 😛
I recently downloaded this app for my PlayBook after a day I decided that I wanted to buy the full version so I did got the receipt and now that the trial has expired I can’t read my books without buying the full version (which I already purchased and have a PayPal receipt for!) any idea what is going on?
@Tom Daniels,
This is where we are right now:
http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/BlackBerry-App-World-Development/PlayBook-Try-amp-Buy-No-Longer-upload-in-App-World/m-p/1758827#M12607
I can not upload new releases to my app due to RIM’s have removed try&buy option from Playbook apps.
I hope they aprove my request to change license model, but I don’t know if they are going to, in the docs the say it’s not possible.
How are things progressing with update?
@Colyn washburn,
Sorry man, as you may guess, Playepub does not support protected books.
The one with question marks is also protected.
You can try to remove DRM, I know it has worked fine for many people:
http://www.ebook-converter.com/epub-drm-removal.htm
@Tom Daniels,
Don’t worry, you will receive the playbook notification for the update 🙂
I am trying to play a book but it comes up as DRM protected and to contact playepub. Is there anyway I can view this book. Also another book I have comes up as question mark signs and letter. Basically jiberish. I was under the impression that playepub could play protected books.
Thanks Colyn.
Thanks. Will I be able to get notification when it is published? I miss my books.
@Tom Daniels,
Yes, it’s done now 🙂
I will be doing more tests during this weekend.
Hope to be published on monday or tuesday.
Any progress on this issue?
Tkanks
@Tom,
I know, I’m working on the issue. I expect to be uploaded by the end of the week.
Sorry for the inconveniences.
Problem: since i upgraded to 2.1 i can no longer turn from page to page, only from chapter to chapter. Can you help?
@Tejas,
Thanks for your feedback.
Unfortunately, there is some kind of issue with 2.1beta web browser that stops Playepub to work fine.
I’m just reported the issut wo BB dev team and I’m looking for a workarround meanwhile.
Ever since i upgraded to the latest beta playbook OS yesterday, playepub has been acting weird. It’s been jumping from one chapter title to another…… Skipping the chapter contents…..
This is happening with all epubs…..
Kindly suggest a solution….
@Lynne,
Please, try again, I have increased file size to 8mb.
Thanks!
The tile is bigger than 2mb. Do you have another option for me to send the file?
Here is the epub file I am trying to use. Sure you will laugh at its title.
@Evelyn,
Do you mean the icon has disappeared?
Regards
This worked fine until I purchased the app. Then it disappeared never to return. It’s only 2 bucks but still majorly annoying to get ripped off. I tried your faq solution do do the data but nothing happened. Do you have any other suggestions
Lynne,
Please, send me that file and let me do some tests.
I am running the trial and when I tap the screen to move to the next page it goes to the next chapter. The same outcome. Happens when I swipe as well. I am reading epub book that I removed the DRM protection from. The book does read correctly on my Nook, PC, and another epub app I downloaded from AppWorld. I would buy this app if I can get it to display and work correctly.
Thanks you.
@Di,
Please, send me that book and let me make some tests.
Has it worked before?
I can no longer load my book on playepub, it just hangs. Is there something that I’m doing wrong?
@Yuri,
Please, send me one of those books and let me make some tests.
Hi, thank you very much for such a great app! The only thing I concern about it is the problem with fb2 books. When I try to add an fb2 book to my library this process stops at 20% and the program freezes, so I have to stop it and launch again to start working. It happens with only fb2 format, epub works excellent. Thanks!
@Micahel Sherman,
I think you talk about the action bar background.
Ian has also some comments about design.
I’m open to sugegstions so I will see what I can do.
I love this eReader! Absolutely the best, and I think Ive tried them all. My only issue? – the cheesy looking fake wood grain fill you have used. Really bugs me. No need to make fake wood to have a library. Can you make up different skins, so users can have a choice?
Thanks
@ian,
I see.
The problem is such a process in Playbook is dificult, no threads, not an extensive network api…
Anyway, wouldn’t it be better adding an static IP address to that computer so as the library url is always the same?
Thanks for the reply.
I use the “+” to add the library
– first removing the old link, then locating the new IP address of the computer sharing the calibre library, then typing the IP address in with “:8080” stuck on the end.
I know what I suggest is possible since the iPod app “stanza” found local network calibre libraries seamlessly. I thought this feature was really neat.
Unfortunately, Amazon killed the app so there is no joy there any more.
Just thinking: the default port for a calibre library is “8080” so no need to ping all ports.
And most home networks use IP addresses of the form “192.168.xxx.xxx” so this narrows the choice to ~ 65,000 possible IP addresses, that is if one was to use brute force…
I am not an expert in networking, but it seems my computer can find other computers on my local network rather quickly. Could a similar feature exist on the playbook? – This would narrow the search considerably.
Thanks again for all you hard work.
Ian
@ian,
Have you tried added the library? On libraries screen you can add (+) an address so as you don’t have to write each time you need. Isn’t that enough for you?
It would be very hard (maybe impossible) to do some automatic thing, any IP adress can be a library in any port…
Can you have Playepub automatically find calibre libraries shared on the local network?
Its a PITA to set up and I have to explain how to do this to my Dad every time he reboots his computer.
Thanks
Love the app
@Doug,
Please, send me your book and let me do some tests.
I first tried the demo version, but found I could not see all of the book. I then purchased the full app and reloaded the ebook. It still says “demo version limitation” and starts the book on Chapter 6???????
How do I fix this?
@wickie,
Upgrades are free.
There might be some issue with your App World account, you should contact customer care and let they know about your problem.
I bought it some weeks ago, and now I am asked tp pay again for an upgrade???
strange update policy…
Hi all!
Just to let you know I’ve fixed the issue about downloading books from integrated libraries.
I will be updating app in some days.
Thanks to BlackBerry guys for their help:

@Yorke,
Do you know if they are truly drm protected?
Could you please send me one of those files?
It does not open my files because it might be drm protected. How can you help me with that
@Bojan,
Hi!
Yes, I know, there is a problem with the last OS update and it is not firing progress download events, but the books are in fact beeing downloaded, just let them some time and they should be on your download folder.
I cannot download .epub files from Libraries such as Gutenberg.org
@Hans,
Please, send it to me by email and let me do some tests.
why is iSteve epub file not working? I only get the cover, no other pages. Other books run perfectly.
I cannot upload the file as it exceeds 2mb.
@Michael,
Yes! I thought it was a good idea.
Hope you like my solution 🙂
Hi there, great, view weeks ago I asked for some notice/remark for already started/read books. And now its done. So nice, that I just bought it. Thanks.
@Vyras,
Ok, lo había entendido al revés. Me lo apunto para próximas actualizaciones :).
@Jesus
Gracias también!
El problema es que estoy hablando de Ebook están justificados a la izquierda al principio.
Podría ser apropiado agregar una función en PlayEpub para elegir el tipo de justificación?
En última instancia, no importa.
¡Buenos días!
