Hi, i was reading an epub with this app, with this upgrade when I open the app it says loading and has been sitting at 87% for over a day now…..Help??
@Mark,
Please, let me know if last update has solved your problem.
@Peter,
I’m looking at CBZ format. Maybe it’s enough for you…
Hi, does not play .CBR files!!
To bad, please make it so.
regards from Holland.
@Mark,
It was hard for me to find the problem and even harder the solution. It’s about encoding.
During the next days I will pusblish a new release and you will be able to open this book.
I have a very large ePUB file that will not open in PlayEpub. It just shows it loading forever. I am going to try to attach the file so you can see if it will work for you. I verified the epub in Calibre.
Thanks
Mark
@A. Graham,
As we talked by email, the problem was due to having denied “File access” permission when app was installed, not a problem with the books. Reinstalling PlayEpub solved the problem.
The app won’t recognize any of my epub files (created with Calibre).
I have attached a file.
Please advise.
Hi Edward!
Nice to read that!
Thank you very much for your comments, may be solution for others.
Disregard the above comments, I figured out the problems, its was the permissions settings, had to check off access files……may have unchecked upon download as its a habit of mine.
All is working fine now
One more thing to add, my friend has playbook and playepub and had him play with it. He cant figure it out either as his works.
Hello, I just downloaded playepub from app world. I cant get it to see any of the epub files I have. I got them all from like 10 different sources as well. I included one of them as a file.
I restarted my playbook like 5 times, I completely turned it off, I uninstalled playepub, and reinstalled, still not working. I tried putting the epub files on my playbook in documents, downloads, and books folder but nothing.
The only thing I see when i open the program is option for “all, downloads, documents, and books”. Cant see or do anything else.

previews working well now. thanks for the quick update.
@Patrice,
The epub you have attached is drm-protected. PlayEpub can’t read DRM protected epub books, you have to remove protection. See:

@Patricia Smith,
PlayEpub does only support epub files, not PDF.
You can open PDF files with your Playbook, you don’t need any aditional app.
@Patrice,
I’m doing some tests with your file. Let you know.
I just bought PlayEpub for the PlayBook and transferred my ebooks in pdf format from my computer to the PlayBook’s “books” directory. Some files are directly in “books” and some are in subdirectories I created under “books”. I opened your app and no books appear, not under any of your categories including All. Please help!
Patricia
I am having the same problem, when I try and open my books the words are symbols and numbers and I cannot read them.
ok thanks for the info
@dazza69,
I see the problem. Your books are in UTF8 but they say they are in iso-8859-1 so any non-standard char is bad showed. It’s really a problem from these books.
I’m looking for a way to force the format. Let you know.
@James Cooke,
Added to future features :).
@dazza69,
I’ll made some tests with your books. Let you know ASAP.
@Alvaro,
Sorry, I think I can’t fully understand your problem. Which app version do you have? Does this problem happen with any book? Could you please attatch one of them?
It would be great if there was an option to toggle the title off as I don’t tend to forget what book I’m reading and it just takes up space needlessly.
Hi just bought the app and on first glance it is great except for one problem any punctuation marks like ‘ or . are coming up as ascii characters like ™ and €. If i open up the same epub files on my desktop all the punctuation is fine, how can this be resolved, ill send a file that its doing it on so you can have a look.
When I add new book, I cannot see the other ones I had installed. The solution I found is to eliminate and reinstall the playepub app again. How can I fix this problem ?
@Peter,
Did the new update solve your problem with previews?
@Errol,
Hi and thanks for purchase 🙂
Please, attach one of the books you don’t see and another one that stays on “opening book”.
I am having the same problem as many here. I ran my books through Calibre and when I upload, I don’t see all there and when I open it either comes up as gibberish or endlessly says “opening book”
@Peter,
I’ve found the problem.
I will be publishing a new release during the next days. Hope solves your issue.
@Thomas,
You are right, you have latest version.
I opened your epub without any problem:

I’m not sure about what could be happening to you.
Is opened book showed on home screen? Have you tried deleting it and opening agagain?
Hi, I was able to open one of my book but when I try to open another one, the book opens but all the pages are blank. By going back to the home screen, I can only see this last book that I have tried to open in the preview. Is the preview suppose to display all the books that are currently opened?
I believe my version of your app is the latest one with the bookmarks and preview. If not, please lt me know how can I update to this latest version.
Thanks
Thomas Schmitz, again, the ver. on app world is 1.0.7.
Thomas Schmitz, just purchased your app from app world
is this version the right on or not. I just read one off the comments and you stated that people are downloading the ver. from app world, which is the one i just purchased. If, not the right ver. let me know the right ver. and where to get it. I do not want to pay for it again. If app does not have the right ver. you should have them take it off app world until it can see the right ver.

@Thomas,
I have no problem opening your book 🙁
Do you have enough disk space in your device?
Do you have the last release, the one with bookmarks and previews in home screen?
I know there are people buying the old one because App Store can’t identify their operating system and this last release does only works with last operating system release.
@Peter,
Please, attatch the epub without cover to test.
@Jean-ooks folMarie,
Please, attatch the one you can’t see too.
@Thomas,
I’m testing it, let you know ASAP.
Hi,
I use calibre and some of my epubs show cover graphics from the cover.jpg file and some do not in the “Open Books” area of the PlayEpub application.
The cover file displays in calibre in all cases.
Let me know if there is something I can do or edit.
Thanks.
Hi everyone,
I copied 2 epub files into the books folder on my Blackberry Playbook.
Playepub can see only one (the first one).
Both are DRM free epub files.
Please advise.

Here’s my epub… I think the problem occurs when I’m opening another epub when there’s still an open one.
@Daniel, @Thomas,
Please, attach one of your epubs in the comment, I will make some tests.
I cannot load my epubs… it’s just saying “loading book please wait”. I have already waited for almost an hour yet the book is still not loaded. I can send the 2 epubs that I have tried to load should you need it.
i Think i see the problem. It looks like a 1 page-turn is 2 turns but there is a refresh with a standard page and in fsct it is a 1-page turn.
@Daniel,
Please, attatch one of your epubs as a comment and I’ll try to make som test with it.
Yes it happens with every book.When i press on the right side, a number of times 2 pages will turn instead of 1. Or perhaps it looks like it since there are no page numbers
@Daniel,
I can not understand your problem, I’ve made thousands of tests and I can not reproduce your problem.
Could you please send me more details?
Does it happen with every book?
the page-turning is very very sensitive. I turn often 2-3 pages at once. can you change this?
@Maurice,
Sorry, PlayEpub does not support DRM-protected ebooks.
Can your reader handle drm protected books downloaded from public libraries?
